Internet solutions
Internet server solutions are programmed for any client platform, with a strong preference for Unix-based servers. Example sites have included:
- Bee Jewellery online Bee Jewel provides trade, sales rep and retailer web-sites including iPhone syncronisation for sales reps to construct and deliver client orders.
- James Halliday's Wine on the Web for HarperCollins Publishers. Was "recommended" in the The Tech Talk Australia Award for Best Designed Web Site
- the James Halliday bulletin board for HarperCollins Publishers, and for WinePros (bulletin board no longer accessible to the public).
- consulted on the WinePros web site on database design and provided code for data migration from a previous system.
- a BHP training intranet solution. A brief summary and sample images can be found here.
- senior programmer for the Peterman Customer Connections web modules and the One Hour Web Site internet packages.
- the original Random House Australia web site
- the Sara Douglass bulletin board and Langton wine valuation site for HarperCollins Publishers,
- Roselight Designs jewellery web-site provides online purchasing for retailers (and soon for the general public).
- Ballet Biz in Australia's web site.
- Organizational Performance Research's online Psychological Profiler (no longer accessible to the public).
Often the client chooses to be responsible for their static site, deferring to Jazz Media to build the dynamic portion. This is the case with many of the above sites.
CD-ROM solutions
Jazz Media has produced a large number of cross-platform (Mac/Windows) multimedia CD-ROMs. Major CD-ROM clients include Global Publishing, HarperCollins Publishers and Random House Australia. A near-complete list of CD-ROM titles produced can be found here.
The six year running James Halliday Interactive Wine Companion has won "Best Lifestyle Product" in the AIMIA Awards (1997, 1998), and was a finalist in the APA Design Awards (1999) and the 1999 World Food Media Awards for "Best and/or Beverage CD-ROM or Internet Website". The Global Encyclopedia of Wine won "Best Wine CD-ROM" in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2001.
Today CD-ROMs (and DVD-ROMs) are programmed in pure Java, playable on Mac OS-X, Windows, Linux and other platforms. The product runs straight from the CD. (Pre-installation of Java is not required for Windows™ users. OS-X users already have Java installed). Historically CD-ROMs had been produced with a combination of Macromedia Director and compiled 'C', until the code libraries were finally rewritten in Java.
Other solutions
A range of other solutions are available, based on the same technology and skill set. This has included everything from simple dynamic presentations (eg. Mix FM's bid for the Sydney Olympic 2000 broadcast rights) through to iPhone application integration with online systems.
